Biografie

Since August of 2006, Mike Schroeder, Marketing Director Southern & Eastern EMEA (SEE), is responsible for Sun's marketing team in a region that stretches from Russia and the CIS states across the Balkans, the eastern Mediterranean to all of Africa and the Middle East. He is responsible for driving Sun's strategy with the country organizations and interacting with Sun's customers, partners, alliances and press & analysts across the very diverse region of SEE. He qualifies for this role as a knowledgeable industry expert with over 25 years of experience in the IT industry in roles including technical sales support, partner and OEM sales in international environments and all aspects of marketing.

Mike is a 15-year Sun veteran with an in-depth knowledge of Sun's strategy and it's product and services portfolio.

He joined Sun Germany in 1993 as Product Manager for Server Systems and Solaris. In 1996 he became responsible for the management of the German Product Marketing team and in 2000 was asked to create the EMEA Product Marketing community which he managed until the summer of 2006. From 2003 to 2006 he was also responsible for product sales and announcement readiness globally for Sun's Global Sales and Services division. During this time, he also played a key role in the implementation of the Sun-Fujitsu agreements in EMEA.
Before joining Sun, Mike held systems engineering, sales support, sales and product marketing positions in the German IT industry. He holds a Masters Degree in Engineering from the Technical University of Clausthal in Germany.

Mike grew up and completed high school in South Africa before moving to Germany for his university education and even today considers South Africa to be his real home. In his spare time, he collects and builds model trains, likes to cycle and spends time outdoors with his wife and 3 daughters.
