Mobility Day
Are you developing and deploying mobile data services and content for the consumer or enterprise market on devices such as wireless handsets, PDAs, telematics, TV, set-top boxes, or smart cards? Whatever your focus, you'll find sessions to take your skills to the next level at Sun Tech Days. Become familiar with Java Platform, Micro Edition (Java ME) and Java Card technologies, and to learn advanced techniques in developing, testing, optimizing, and deploying mobile content based on Java technology. Frankfurt Java Mobility Day Abstracts – December 3, 2007
- Introduction to Java MobileandEmbedded Community
CDC, CLDC, TCKs, APIs...What does it all mean? In this session, you will learn what all these acronyms mean and the various configurations and what devices support them. You will also learn what tools are available to help you immediately create a Java ME application and how to develop your application in the MobileandEmbedded Community.
- Mobility on NetBeans
Java ME development requires a specific set of tools. The NetBeans IDE provides a first class set of tools for developing mobile Java applications. This session is an introduction to Java ME development and demonstrates the features of the NetBeans IDE Mobility Pack. The ultra-cool visual designer will be demonstrated, along with wizards that support wireless connection. For experienced Java ME developers the second half of the presentation will be dedicated to application porting, application optimization and building Java ME applications using ant. Finally we will show how to develop CDC AGUI/PP applications using new Mobility Pack for CDC.
- Graphics and Media in Java ME
The presentation will introduce the APIs for media and graphics applications in the Java ME platform. These include:
o JSR 226 & JSR 287 Scalable 2D Vector Graphics API
o JSR 135 & JSR 234 Mobile Media API & Advanced Multimedia Supplements
o JSR 209 Advanced Graphics and User Interface
o JSR 184 Mobile 3D Graphics API
o JSR 239 Java Binding for the OpenGL ES API
We will cover the basic capabilities of these APIs, discuss which APIs are appropriate for which applications, and show demos of applications built using these APIs.
- JavaFX Script
The session will provide an introduction to GUI development with JavaFX Script. JavaFX Script is a highly productive scripting language that enables content developers to create rich media and content for deployment on Java environments.
JavaFX is a new object-oriented, declarative programming language for the Java Platform. It is a statically-typed language, with compile-time error reporting and has type inference, declarative syntax, and automatic data binding with full support for 2-D graphics and standard Swing components as well as declarative animation. You can also import Java classes, create new Java objects, call their methods, and implement Java interfaces. IDE plug-ins are available for both the NetBeans IDE and Eclipse. Both plug-ins support as-you-type validation, code completion, syntax highlighting, and hyperlink navigation (with Control-mouseover). Learn how you can use this powerful scripting language in your next project.
- Java ME Testing - Having the Right Tools for the Job
For testing in the mobile world, the smaller the devices, the more difficult it is to test them. This session will touch upon some of the issues in mobile application testing today. We will start with presenting the problems in mobile testing, show what are the right tools for the job and how they should be used, and discuss various security models in the mobile testing world.
- Community Open Session
This will be your chance to talk directly with the Community members about current topics in the Mobile and Embedded Community.
