DESCRIPTION
The Application Engineer works with the VirtualBox developers on reproducing and resolving issues, measure and improve performance, design and implement complex automated test scenarios.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Expert on VirtualBox from the end user / administrator perspective
* Contribute to the design of VirtualBox with broad industry knowledge
* Coordinate QA and contribute to the design of enhanced automated testing
* Able to work as a member of a geographically distributed team of engineers developing virtualization technology.
* Must be able to influence peers and cross functional organizations.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
* Expert on PC hardware and peripheral devices
* Excellent operating systems knowledge (Windows, Linux, Solaris, OS X, FreeBSD, etc.)
* Expert on virtualization (VirtualBox, VMware, Xen/xVM Server, Parallels, QEMU)
* Ability to analyze complex problems and provide reasonable solutions.
* Be an effective communicator.
* Be a team player, motivated and capable of mentoring junior engineers.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
* Experience in system software development
* Open source development experience.
* Experience working as part of a distributed team.
MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION: BS
