This job function is allocated to the Professional Services Delivery (PSD) department within Sun Microsystems GmbH, Germany.
This position will primarily act as technical lead architect in delivery projects. The person will architect and design complex solutions in the Sun Storage environment for an efficient and optimized implementation of customer requirements.
She/he will support and consult with the commercial project manager and customer representatives in all project-related technical issues. As lead architect, she/he will break down implementation tasks, assign them to the project team and control respectively check work results regarding their technical compliance with the overall architectural concept.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
responsible for the technical aspects of the entire project delivery cycle:
when architectural adjustments are necessary, performs impact analysis and works with commercial project manager and analyst to adjust schedule, staff, budget, or requirements
accompanies and responsibly manages final solution rollout
provides timely and accurate project updates, reports and escalations to management and responsible sales representatives
participates in designing and developing architectural prototypes
provides technical expertise on Storage Solutions and related technologies
using design specifications and working closely with the customer, configures, develops, and implements the according solution components
Qualifications and Experience
Installation / configuration / administration of:
Solaris 2.x – Solaris 10
MidRange Storage Systems: e.g. Sun StorageTek 6540 Array
Datacenter Storage Systems: e.g. Sun StorageTek 9990V System
Performance analysis, troubleshooting and tuning in storage environments
Architect and design of data management solutions
Design and Development of Unix agents
Good knowledge of:
Data management services
Disaster recovery solutions
File systems
Disk technologies
Data security
Good experience in Installation / configuration / administration of :
Solstice Disk Suite
SVM
Veritas Volume Manager
Hirarchical storage management
Backup Solutions
Good skills in :
Unix-Shell programming
SCSI / Fibre channel technologies
Data transport protocols
Good Understanding in Installation / Configuration of Suns Virtualization portfolio
Good project management skills
Good team player
Displays high levels of energy and drive, thrives under pressure, with strong business acumen, strong process orientation and excellent verbal and written communication skills
Willingness to travel regularly (within the region) is assumed
Fluent in written and spoken German and English (proficiency)
At least 7 years of experience in the Sun and Solaris environment
