Summary	:	This job function is allocated to the Professional Services Delivery (PSD) department within Sun Microsystems GmbH Germany. This position will primarily act as technical lead architect in delivery projects around consolidation, virtualization and eco-computing. The person will architect and design complex solutions with Sun/Solaris products for an efficient and optimized implementation of customer requirements. She/he will support and consult with the commercial project manager and customer representatives in all project-related technical issues. As lead architect, she/he will break down implementation tasks, assign them to the project team and control respectively check work results regarding their technical compliance with the overall architectural concept. The main focus area is datacenter architecture and design for virtualisation, consolidation and eco-computing. Longterm experience as IT Architect with a deep knowledge of Sun products and customer datacenter with direct contact to the IT Lead/Manager, Project Management up to CIO level is needed.
Description, Skills, Education & Experience	:	Responsibilities and Accountabilities ------------------------------------- Responsible for the technical aspects of the entire project delivery cycle: When architectural adjustments are necessary, performs impact analysis and works with commercial project manager and analyst to adjust schedule, staff, budget, or requirements. Accompanies and responsibly manages final solution rollout, provides timely and accurate project updates, reports and escalations to management and responsible sales representatives. Participates in designing and developing architectural prototypes, provides technical expertise on Solaris and related technologies. Using design specifications and works closely with the customer, configures, develops, and implements the according solution components. Qualifications and Experience ----------------------------- - Installation / configuration / administration of: * Solaris 10 * Linux 2.4.x-2.6.x(i.E RedHat, Suse,Debian,Ubuntu) * Windows XP/2000/2003 - Performance analysis, troubleshooting and tuning in Unix / Linux-environments - Architect and design of High availability solutions - Certifications in: * Solaris, Sun Cluster 2.x-3.x, Veritas Cluster Server 1.x–5.x * Design and Development of Cluster agents - Good knowledge of: * Vmware, Suns Virtualization offerings * Solaris 10 Zones, LDOMs, Container * Advanced Solaris Features: SRM, SVM, STMS and IPMP, Trusted Extensions * SunCluster 3.2 * Jumpstart Technics (Bootp, DHCP, PXE) * TCP/IP, Naming services (DNS, etc.) * File sharing (ZFS, NFS, Samba) * Security, OS-Hardening * Web server(Apache, etc.) - Good experience in Installation / configuration / administration of: * Raid-Software: Solstice Disk Suite 1.x–4.x * SVM * Veritas Volume Manager 1.x-5.x * Good Understanding in Architecture / Installation / Configuration of: * Sun T1000/T2000 Niagara Server * Sun StarFire Server * Sun Enterprise Server * Sun X86 Systems * Sun Sparc Workstations * Intel/AMD X86/PC-Systems - Excellent communication and presentation skills. Confident in drawing a vision to a customer based on a solid understanding of their business need, and speaking clearly with customers such that they can identify with this vision. - Provides pre-sales technical consultancy in the area of specialist technology/products and provide technical assistance/input in system design at an early stage to ensure technical viability. - Provides coaching or mentoring to 1 or more, enterprise consultants advising on appropriate development to ensure PSD has suitably-trained technical consultants in the relevant product areas. - Shows high levels of energy and drive, thrives under pressure, with strong business acumen, strong process orientation and excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Good project management skills - Good team player - University degree in informatics and/or business administration or at least 7 years of experience in the datacenter-environment and experience in the Sun and Solaris environment - Willingness to travel regularly (within the region) is assumed - Fluent in written and spoken German and English (proficiency) "The Network is the Computer"
